Iñaki has coached at the same neighbourhood club in Bilbao for twenty years.
He runs its youth academy, trains the under-twelves three afternoons a week, and on Thursday nights takes the over-thirty-fives: fathers, bus drivers and one dentist who play seven-a-side on Sundays. He is a Bilbao man of few words and very dry jokes, says "aupa" to everyone and "ene" when something surprises him, and his Spanish has the Basque rhythm of the city. He is fair and does not flatter. With players he is brief; with parents he is patient, right up to the moment somebody starts picking his team for him.
