Why it works
You learn to speak a language by speaking it, with someone who answers at their own pace rather than yours. That used to mean moving abroad or finding a very patient friend. Now it means pressing call: a flatmate, a doctor's receptionist or a visa officer picks up, speaks first and carries the conversation the way people do. Including the moments you would rather skip.
Reallang · Speaking practice in English and Spanish

A2–C1
Any level from A2 up. By default they talk at natural speed, with a real accent and real slang, and interrupt if you ramble. When it is too much, the Simpler switch brings them down to A2–B1, slower and plainer, still the same person.
What a minute costsWhat is different
Four things you notice in the first call
Pick one to see what it gives you and how it is done.
A real call, not a chat with a microphone.
What you get
You talk and they answer straight away, with no button to hold and no turn to wait for. Cut in when you have something to say, and expect them to do the same.
How it works
Both sides can speak at once, as on the phone. Every situation comes in several versions, so the same meeting never plays out the same way twice.

What is in the catalogue today
Every figure here is counted from the live catalogue, with nothing rounded up. Pick a language to see who speaks it, and with which accent.
Situations to rehearse
84
38 people, 3 accents and 227 versions between them, so the same situation never plays out the same way twice.

Who picks up
56 people, the kind you will actually meet
Each has a name, a city, an accent and a life of their own. They are not tutors and do not behave like tutors. They are the people a new language puts in front of you anyway; they simply don't mind you calling back.
See everyone in the catalogueThey talk like people. That is what you are practising for.
What it is like
Small talk at the kitchen table, a bill nobody has paid, a party on Saturday. The everyday language no course ever gets round to.
Picks up where you left off last time, so the tenth call does not start like the first.
A flatmate · remembers you
This is how languages will be practised. It already works today.
Pick someone, press call and see for yourself. The first 5 minutes are free: no card, nothing to cancel.
